Medicare Advantage Plans

A type of Medicare health plan offered by a private company that contracts with Medicare. Medicare Advantage Plans (Part C) provide all of your Part A (hospital insurance) and Part B (medical insurance) benefits.

Some of the Medicare Advantage Plan types are:

  • Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO)
  • Preferred Provider Organization (PPO)
  • Special Needs Plan (SNP)

Medicare Supplements (MediGap)

Medigap is health insurance sold by private insurance companies to pay for some or all of the deductibles and copayments of Medicare medically necessary benefits.

Medicare does not cover:

  • Part A (In-patient hospital) or Part B ( Out-patient hospital) deductibles
  • Qualified skilled care costs from day 21 to 100
  • 20 % of medically necessary Part B copays. (There is no annual limit to costs)

Prescription Drug Plans

Medicare beneficiaries have received financial help with prescription drug costs since 2006. Prior to that time there were no insurance policies to help defray drug.

These Medicare approved prescription plans are offered by private insurance companies. Beneficiaries may change plans or companies during each Annual Enrollment Period (October 15 to December 7).

There are two ways to obtain prescription coverage:

  • A stand-alone policy that goes along with Original Medicare
